Henna for Hope Campaign

Henna is an ancient art form in South Asia, expertly applied to the hands – and sometimes feet – in times of joy and celebration. Intricate designs celebrate the goodness of the body in preparation for marriage, holidays, and religious rituals. The imprint of a henna design becomes part of us for a week before fading away, leaving us ready for a new design.

Trauma leaves its own imprint on the body. Stress, grief, and fear send signals through our entire nervous system and create pathways that the body doesn’t quickly unlearn. Left feeling unsafe in their own skin, trauma survivors may feel helpless and betrayed by their bodies.

The Henna for Hope Campaign inspires hope that the imprint of trauma will fade away, leaving survivors ready for new ways of responding to stress. Funds raised through Henna for Hope are used to further the Hope Roots mission to increase access to trauma-informed mental health services. Ultimately, we want to see the end of cycles of violence and injustice through trauma healing. The Henna for Hope campaign is part of how we inspire others to join in that vision - by raising awareness about trauma & trauma healing modalities and raising funds that will increase access to trauma therapy for those who need it most.

During the month of June, join us in embodying this hope. You can:

  • Attend our Kick-off Event on June 12th, 2024 in Fort Collins, CO (Tickets and details are available below, or click here)

  • Become a sponsor of Hope Roots - Right now, we are looking for event sponsors to donate at least $100 as well as in-kind donations (a potted plant, snacks or drinks, or swag/coupons for the swag bag) for the June 12th event. We highlight and tag our sponsors on social media posts and our website.

  • Make a donation of at least $25 to Hope Roots before the end of June and we will send you henna to try as a “Thank You!”

  • Share your embodied artwork on social media as a fundraiser post by toggling the “raise funds” button on and entering “Hope Roots” as the charity (also add #hennaforhope & @hoperootsorg).

  • Post about Hope Roots with your own artwork, by sharing this page, reposting an image from our social media, or sharing one of the images below.

  • Tell others why you’re participating and invite them to participate. Consider a live event (with henna), a Facebook fundraiser, or an Instagram story.
